The Texas Rangers have sent Adrian Beltre back home with tightness in his left quadriceps.

Beltre, who hit fourth but started as the designated hitter, was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs before he was lifted for pinch hitter in the sixth inning.

The quad will be examined by the Rangers' doctor. He had the same problem in spring training, and Ron Washington said the team wanted to get him checked out as quick as possible.
