The Tampa Bay Rays signed Chris Archer to an eight-year contract extension on Wednesday and some of their other young stars may be next in line.

The Rays gave Archer six years of guaranteed money, expected to be worth $25.5 million, plus club options for the 2020 and 2021 seasons that would push the contract toward its maximum value of $43.75 million.

Since signing Carl Crawford to a similar deal in 2005, the Rays have done the same with Rocco Baldelli, James Shields, Evan Longoria, Scott Kazmir, Ben Zobrist, Wade Davis and Matt Moore.

It would seem as though Wil Meyers, 23, and Alex Cobb, 26, are next in line for long-term deals.
