Bud Black, pitching coach for the Angels, who has turned down managerial overtures from the Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians over the last four years, said Wednesday he is interested in pursuing a managerial position this winter.

"The timing is right for me to throw my name in the hat," Black said.

Black denied an mlb.com report Wednesday that said he told the Texas Rangers he "was not interested in managing right now."
