The Colorado Rockies have shut down Jhoulys Chacin because of inflammation in his throwing shoulder.

The right-hander is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.

"I feel good about the fact that we caught it early," Walt Weiss said. "He's had it at times in the past. Not necessarily last year, but I think the year before. So we're being really cautious with it. It's the first day of camp, so we've got time on our side.

"We'll hope for the best, but I'm not overly concerned right now, just because it's February," he said.

Chacin was Colorado's most reliable pitcher in 2013, throwing a team-high 197 1-3 innings. The 26-year-old went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA.
