Athletics second baseman Mark Ellis suffered a broken right index finger in Wednesday's American League Division Series game against the Twins.

Ellis suffered the injury while hitting against Joe Nathan in the ninth inning of Oakland's 5-2 win over the Twins. D'Angelo Jimenez replaced Ellis at second base in the bottom of the ninth inning.

X-rays taken after the game revealed the fracture. Ellis will be re-evaluated on Thursday, but is likely out for the remainder of the series.
