German construction company Hochtief said Wednesday its U.S.-based unit won the contract to build a new stadium for the New York Yankees. The Dallas-based Turner Corp., which is owned by Hochtief, will build the new 50,800-seat stadium for developer Tishman Speyer. It will replace the landmark Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Essen-based Hochtief said the deal was worth $615 million, and construction is expected to be completed by the start of the 2009 season. The company said the new stadium would reflect the original, built in 1923, by mirroring the landmark facade. |
