The Oakland Athletics broke off negotiations Friday with a local government organization on a three-year extension of their lease at the Coliseum.

The A's lease currently runs through 2007, with year-to-year extensions at the club's option through 2010. The team went through months of negotiations with the Joint Powers Authority on the financial terms of a possible extension through 2013 but failed to reach an agreement.
