The Tigers have agreed to re-sign Anibal Sanchez to a five-year, $80 million contract, the pitcher's agent has confirmed.

Sanchez, 28, is 48-51 with a 3.75 career ERA for the Tigers and Marlins.

He was considered by many to be the second-best pitcher on the free agent market after Zack Greinke.

Sanchez reportedly had reached agreement on a five-year, $75 million contract Thursday with the Cubs, but the deal apparently unraveled and he elected to return to Detroit.
