Jason Giambi, who rejoined the Rockies on Saturday after missing 35 games with what the club is calling a "viral syndrome," says he wants to play next season when he will be 42.

"I would to love play if I can get a job," Giambi said. "That's kind of up to everybody else. If I have an opportunity, I would love to play. If not, we'll go from there."

Giambi will be used mostly as a pinch hitter in the final month of the season.

"I feel like I can still play this game," he said. "I swung the bat well when I was down there, and I felt like I was hitting well up here before I got sick."
