Sabathia Tried To Avoid DL Stint

The Yankees placed CC Sabathia on the disabled list on Saturday, but the left-hander tried to avoid the move.

Sabathia wasn't going to even tell the Yankees about the pain he felt in his left elbow, but his wife, Amber, insisted that he do so.

"I didn't want to go on the DL, it's not my decision," Sabathia said. "But, I understand. I felt like I stated a good case, but [Brian Cashman] wasn't having it."
