The Yankees have talked with Oakland about acquiring outfielder Jay Payton, The Post has learned. The 33-year-old former Met was batting .283 with five homers and 32 RBIs. Oakland outfielder Milton Bradley, who was on the DL with a shoulder problem, was scheduled to be activated before last night's game, thereby cutting into Payton's playing time. Payton, who has played with five teams in eight seasons, is said to be on the outs with A's manager Ken Macha. He also shouted at Red Sox manager Terry Francona, hastening his exit from Boston. Former Mets skipper Bobby Valentine wasn't a big fan, either.
