According to MLB.com's Peter Gammons, the A's are evaluating Magglio Ordonez for a possible spring training tryout. Ordonez is recovering from surgery after re-fracturing his right ankle in the ALCS last season.

He hit .255 with five homers and 32 RBIs in 92 games for the Tigers in 2011.
