The Red Sox are likely headed towards an arbitration hearing with David Ortiz, according to a Major League source.

A hearing, however, is not scheduled for this week, so there is still time to negotiate.

If the sides do go to a hearing, it will be Boston's first since Tim Wakefield in 2002.
