Although Tigers manager Jim Leyland denies a promotion is imminent, there have been rumors that the team could soon call-up pitching prospect Jacob Turner.
The right-hander is currently with Double-A Erie.
Turner, 20, has gone 3-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 15 starts. He has struck out 79 batters and walked 29 men in 100 2/3 innings.
Over his last 10 starts, Turner pitched at least six innings in each appearance and posted a 3.65 ERA.
Detroit selected Turner with the ninth overall pick in the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
He has not started for Erie since July 5.
