Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta has been named to replace Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis has been named to replace New York's Alex Rodriguez on the AL's active roster for the 82nd All-Star Game, Major League Baseball announced today. This is the first career All-Star selection for Peralta, a nine-year veteran who is in his first full season with the Tigers. Peralta entered play this evening with a .310 batting average on the year before hitting his 15th home run and notching his 50th early in tonight's game. This is the third career All-Star selection for Youkilis, who also attended in 2008 and 2009. The 32-year-old infielder is batting .276 with 12 home runs and 58 RBI on the season, along with a .394 on-base percentage.
