The Dodgers will be without Jon Garland for the remainder of the season. Garland will have season-ending shoulder surgery on Monday. His shoulder discomfort has not improved and the Dodgers have exhausted all options other than surgery at this point. "The fact that he couldn't progress in his throwing program without pain kind of gave us no choice in regards with where we wanted to go," said Stan Conte, director of medical services. The recovery time will be at least six months.
