A uniform worn by Joe DiMaggio in his final World Series sold for $195,500 Saturday during the second day of an auction of his memorabilia. The pinstriped flannel home uniform was won by an anonymous bidder. DiMaggio wore the jersey during the 1951 World Series, when the Yankees defeated the Giants. According to Hunt's Auctions Inc., the matching pants - while worn during the 1951 season - couldn't be verified as being used in the World Series. DiMaggio retired after winning the championship, turning his spot in center field over to Mickey Mantle. |
