Barry Bonds hit a historical home run in the top of the second inning off Oakland's Brad Halsey to tie Babe Ruth with 714 career home runs.
The Oakland crowd was very supportive and Bonds came out for two curtain calls.
Bonds had gone without a homer in his previous nine games.
The Giants defeated the A's 4-2 in 10 innings.
