In the midst of a six-game losing streak, highlighted by a three-game sweep at the hands of the Red Sox in the Bronx, the Yankees are in a free-fall. The Yankees haven't endured a six-game losing streak in more than four years. "It's early, but the team needs to get it together," co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner said before Monday night's loss to the Rays. "We've got too much talent to be swept by anybody at Yankee Stadium, even if we're playing the '27 Yankees. It's not acceptable. We need to start doing what I know we can do." Since May 3, the Yankees have lost 10 of 13. "This is going to turn around," manager Joe Girardi said. "We're going through a really tough stretch. This is where you're tested as a team, and you've got to fight through it."
