Young Isn't Thinking Trade From Rangers

Apr 12, 2011 1:33 PM EST

Michael Young, who heard his name in trade rumors leading up to the 2011 season, isn't thinking about the possibility of being dealt by the Rangers.

He said Tuesday that "right now a trade is the furthest thing from my mind."

Young was asked by ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning if he still wanted to be traded to a team that would play him everyday.

"At this point now, my thoughts are completley on the Texas Rangers," he said. "That's the way it should be. I'm not going to sit here and say I want to leave a team that's 9-1, a team that went to the World Series last year. Right now a trade is the furthest thing from my mind. Once the season rolls around, it's time to play baseball. I'm not going to concern myself with things I can't control."

Texas has opened the season with a 9-1 record.

Young is hitting .293 with three RBI and an OPS of .310.
