Hideki Matsui left Thursday's game against Boston after injuring his left wrist.

The durable Matsui has played in 518 consecutive major league games since coming over from Japan.

The streak is an all-time record for a player at the start of his big league career and is the longest streak by any Yankee since Lou Gehrig's historical 2,130 game-streak.

Matsui's record setting streak will end with tonight's game, even though Matsui started and took the field.

Rule 10.24C states that you must complete a half inning in the game or take a turn at bat to be credited with a game played. Matsui was able to do neither.
