"The A's have a wonderful history here in Oakland," said Oakland Councilman Larry Reid, a member of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority, which controls the stadium the A's call home. "However, there is not the political will to use public money to help finance a new stadium. The only option they have is to look at Fremont." The A's are said to be in the final stages of negotiating to build a new ballpark in Fremont just off Interstate 880. |
