Willie Mays is, virtually without debate, baseball's Greatest Living Player.

When the name Mays is tossed into discussion, numbers become just another tool of measurement.

Surely, then, the game of baseball can't be confined to mere numbers.

There is one number, however, where Mays can't be topped, outfield putouts. With 7,095 he is baseball's all-time leader.

The number that matters most this weekend (Saturday), though, is 75. Happy birthday to the man and the myth. To the man who would say 75 is, well, just another number.
