In baseball's basic labor agreement, section 7(b)1 allows the Giants to terminate his contract if he doesn't meet the "standards of good citizenship." And Article XII of the basic agreement governs how Major League Baseball might do the same. If a federal grand jury in San Francisco returns an indictment on perjury or tax-evasion charges against Bonds, it might be enough for MLB to seek a suspension. More likely, officials will wait to see whether Bonds is convicted or pleads guilty. WIth so many things going on in Barry Bonds' world at this moment, two home runs short of the home run record, the BALCO scandal, a relentless media, tax evasion charges are the last thing the misunderstood slugger needs. However, if he is convicted, Bonds could face a suspension from the MLB.
