Yankees right fielder Gary Sheffield missed yesterday's 4-1 victory against Toronto with a bruised left wrist and may miss the two games in Boston tonight and tomorrow night. But the Yankees said there was no broken bone in the wrist, which Sheffield injured Saturday colliding with the Blue Jays' Shea Hillenbrand while running to first base. "Whenever he can hold the bat," Manager Joe Torre said of Sheffield's return. "This may be a couple days." Sheffield's likely replacement is Bernie Williams, who played right field yesterday and went 0 for 3. |
