Pablo Sandoval is working privately to lose weight in an effort to save his career, multiple sources told the San Francisco Chronicle. Rich Aurilia saw Sandoval before Christmas and said the 24-year-old infielder reported he had lost 17 pounds. Last week, Venezuelan reporters quoted Sandoval as saying he had lost 16 "kilos" with a goal of 24 "kilos" by spring training. Sixteen kilos is more than 35 pounds. "Hopefully he's doing well because he's (like) our new free agent," coach Shawon Dunston said. "If he gets back to his 2009 form, watch out."
