The Twins would like to re-sign pitcher Carl Pavano and slugger Jim Thome, but they aren't going to overpay to do so. Thome made $1.7 million last season while batting .283 with 25 homers and 59 RBI, clearing outperforming his contract. It didn't appear as though Minnesota would have a chance to re-sign Pavano after he went 17-11, but he has expressed a desire to return. The Star Tribune speculates that if the Twins spend a combined $15 million on Pavano and Thome that they may reach their spending limit.
