Bob Brenly was asked this week to meet with Cubs general manager Jim Hendry near the end of the season to discuss the Cubs' opening. He also has been in touch with some other teams planning changes.

Brenly, who managed the Diamondbacks to the 2001 MLB World Series title, is currently a broadcaster for the Cubs.

Mike Quade and Bob Melvin are considered to be strong candidates.
