The Yankees are shooting for a Sept. 19 return for left-hander Andy Pettitte.

Pettitte has been on the disabled list since July 19 with a strained left groin and the injury has taken longer than expected to heal.

He will pitch for Double-A Trenton on Thursday night in a playoff game against New Hampshire.

New York has a comfortable lead for a playoff spot, either by winning the AL East or the Wild Card, so New York doesn't want to rush Pettitte.
