Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has returned to the disabled list because of soreness in his fractured left foot.

Pedroia, who missed 44 games after fouling a ball off the foot in late June, had played in two games this week.

"Today it was a lot worse" than it was on Thursday, Pedroia told reporters on Friday afternoon.
