Kevin Slowey had a no hitter through seven innings, but was lifted after reaching his pitch count.

Reliever Jon Rauch allowed the first Oakland hit of the game, causing a chorus of boos from the Twins' fans.

"I'd boo me too. I took a pitcher out with a no-hitter going, but I would do it a thousand times the same way because Slowey's just come off an elbow injury and we're not even about to come close to risking this guy," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "It's the way it is and it's sad because like I said I'd be booing too."
