 More Royals NewsThe Royals have seen left-handing pitching prospect Mike Montgomery really blossom this season. Montgomery, who Kansas City drafted with the 38th overall pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, is 4-1 with a 2.35 ERA in eight starts. He's pitching for Northwest Arkansas of the Double-A Texas League. The lefty has struck out 33 batters and walked 13, allowing just a .215 batting average against. Montgomery started this season playing in the Arizona Rookie League before moving to the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Advanced Class-A Carolina League. He spent just four games with Wilmington before be promoted to Northwest Arkansas (AA). |
