Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira missed Tuesday night's tenth-inning loss to the Rangers and will sit out Wednesday's contest in Texas as well.

Teixeira remained home in anticipation of the birth of his third child. His wife had the baby on Tuesday.

He hit .344 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in July, helping raise his season average after yet another slow start.

Teixeira is expected to rejoin the Yankees when they begin a four-game set against the Royals on Thursday.
