Yankees starter A.J. Burnett was scratched from his scheduled start against the Red Sox on Sunday with a bad back.

New York manager Joe Girardi doesn't see Burnett's back as a long-term problem and the right-hander is expected to start Tuesday.

"A.J. was doing his flat ground work, which is pretty normal (Saturday) and he felt some back tightness, spasms, stiffness," Girardi said.

"We thought it was in our best interest to move him back until (Tuesday). The feeling is if he goes out and starts and feels it in the first, second, third inning it kind of puts you in a little bit of a bind so we moved him back to and we expect he'll be able to make that (start)."
