Free-agent first baseman Carlos Delgado will work out for the Red Sox over the next few days, according to a source.

Delgado would be a complement to Mike Lowell, who will replace Kevin Youkilis at first base. Youkilis is out for the season.

Delgado has not played all season after undergoing surgery last year with the Mets.
