Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez hit the 599th home run of his career against the Royals on July 22.

His own struggles have been well-documented as he chases home run No. 600. Rodriguez is just 8-for-45 (.177) since his last homer, including 17 straight hit-less at-bats.

While the chase may be weighing Rodriguez down, it appears to be holding back the Yankees as well.

Since A-Rod hit No. 599, New York is just 6-6 (they are 66-40 overall). In those 12 games, the Yankees are averaging 5.08 runs down from their season average of 5.38 per game.

In 2010, New York is hitting .268.

However, over their last 12 games the reigning World Series champions are hitting just .231.
