The Mets have long been trying to send struggling pitcher Oliver Perez to the minors to work out his issues.

However, the New York Daily News reports that the Mets have given up on trying to send Perez to Triple-A Buffalo and they won't cut the left-hander either.

"That's done," one source said. "He's not going to agree to go down."

For months, the team offered a flat "no" to the possibility that it would cut Perez and swallow the remainder of a three-year, $36 million contract awarded him before the 2009 season.
