 More Mets NewsJerry Manuel is evaluating the role of catcher Josh Thole. Since being recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on June 24, Thole has delivered solid contributions to the lineup, going 8-for-16 with four RBIs in eight appearances. But his time in the Majors may be short-lived. With Rod Barajas and Henry Blanco healthy, Manuel mentioned that Thole's place on the club following the break isn't guaranteed. "It's an interesting scenario for us," Manuel said. "I think it's important if we go with three, then we have to determine the role of the youngest catcher. You have to make a decision on whether or not he's going to catch and improve like he has. Those are some of the things that we'll be discussing in the next couple days as we go forward as to whether or not we need a third catcher." |
