The sale of the Rangers isn't expected to be finalized by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Texas general manager Jon Daniels and his staff have planned for every contingency.

"We're not counting on the sale coming to a head before the deadline at this point," Daniels said Monday.

"If it does, we'll gladly adjust. There are a lot of good things going on and we expect to build on that with the team and resources we have."

That doesn't take the Rangers out of the running for any possible deals, but it may be tough for them to take on the contract of a guy like Cliff Lee.
