The Red Sox are placing pitcher Clay Buchholz on the disabled list retroactive to June 27.

He will be the ninth member of the team on the disabled list.

Buchholz has a strained left hamstring and will be eligible to return right after the All-Star Break.

"Since we've waited this long, if we DL him, we can bring him back right after the break," manager Terry Francona said. "That's not etched in stone, but it seems like it makes common sense."
