Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips was arrested and charged with reckless driving on Kentucky on Friday night. Phillips was driving 72 mph in a 35-mph zone close to midnight on Friday. His mother was in the car with him at the time and no alcohol was involved, Park Hills police said. "I was just trying to hurry up and just exchange cars so we all could ride together," Phillips said of his parents. "My parents tried to surprise me because it's the weekend and the week that's coming up is my birthday. "I'm not really mad. I'm thankful that I'm safe and I get to play today ... I really didn't know how fast I was going. That's how powerful the car is. It's like 700 horsepower and when you're going 50 it feels like you're not really going anywhere like you're going 30 or 20. I apologize for what I did."
