Mets pitcher John Maine was scheduled to see a specialist about his troublesome right shoulder on Tuesday. As manager Jerry Manuel hinted over the weekend, the Mets could try to pass the righthander through waivers for the purpose of outrighting him to the minors. Maine cannot refuse the assignment because he doesn't have enough service time.
