The Blue Jays cut third baseman Edwin Encarnacion on Monday, less than a year after acquiring him from the Reds.

Toronto designated Encarnacion for assignment, giving them 10 days to make a move with him.

He hit .200 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs this season.
