Jackson, 28, was hitting .238 with 11 doubles, one homer and 11 RBIs for the D-backs after missing most of last season due to illness. Demel, 24, was 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA and six saves in 22 games for Triple-A Sacramento. The right-hander is expected to join the D-backs in Boston on Wednesday, at which time the club will make a corresponding roster move. "Sam Demel gives us another quality arm in our attempt to improve the bullpen," Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes said. "Conor Jackson has been a class act during his time in the organization. We wish him well in Oakland." |
