The Phillies have been known to make deadline deals in recent seasons, but Paul Hagen of the Philadelphia Daily News writes that one is unlikely this July. They are currently just 32-29 and stuck in third place in the National League East division. Philadelphia added Joe Blanton in 2008, when they won the World Series, and Cliff Lee in 2009, when they lost to the Yankees in the Fall Classic. Such a deal is unlikely because the Phillies don't have as many prospects as they did before. |
