Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Webb is close to throwing off a mound, which will move him one step closer to a return.

"It's looking like one more week and I'm ready to throw off the rubber," Webb said Saturday.

"It's been awhile, but I'm looking forward to it, because once I start doing that I'm on my way, and then it's just a matter of time."

Webb isn't expected to return to Arizona's starting rotation until after the All-Star break.

"It probably won't be any earlier than that," he said, "because I've got to get my pitch count up and get my endurance. But I'm encouraged. I'm getting there. I'm working my way back."
