Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez struck out four batters in a single inning against the Twins on Thursday night.

He fanned Joe Mauer on a wild pitch with two outs, allowing Mauer to reach first and giving Hernandez a chance to get Justin Morneau looking one batter later.

The quartet of K's was the first by a Seattle pitcher since Kazuhiro Sasaki did it on April 4, 2003.

"That's pretty good, huh? Obviously I'm just kidding, that was pretty good," Hernandez said. "It's been a while since I won a game, so I was excited."

He achieved the feat in the eighth inning.
