The Mariners are in need of a bat after Ken Griffey Jr. announced his retirement on Wednesday night.

ESPN Insider reports that Seattle will have a number of options, including free-agent Jermaine Dye.

Another possibility might be for the Mariners to add a pitcher instead, leaving the designated hitter duties to Mike Sweeney and Milton Bradley.
