The Kansas City Royals today have claimed right-handed pitcher Kanekoa Texeira on Outright Waivers from the Seattle Mariners. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Royals designated right-handed pitcher Brad Thompson for assignment. Texeira?s reporting date and location will be determined later today. The 24-year old Kanekoa Texeira had spent the entire 2010 campaign with the Mariners before being designated for assignment on Tuesday. An original 22nd round pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2006, Texeira is 21-13 with 42 saves a 2.49 ERA in 154 career minor league appearances, all but six in relief. He was acquired by the Yankees along with outfielder Nick Swisher in exchange for pitchers Jeff Marquez, Jhonny Nunez and current Royal, Wilson Betemit, on November 13, 2008. |
