The Texas Rangers continued their romancing of Roger Clemens yesterday, as the team?s owner showed up at Scottsdale Stadium to watch the Rocket pitch four shutout innings in Team USA?s 17-0, five-inning victory over South Africa in the opening round of the World Baseball Classic. Clemens and Tom Hicks have seen a lot of each other in recent months. Hicks visited Clemens at his home in Houston before spring training, and earlier this week, the Rocket paid a surprise visit to the Rangers? spring training facility in Surprise, Ariz. ?The reason why I ended up stopping over there was my showing him respect back,? Clemens said. ?They took the time out to come to Houston and speak to me about the future.? The Rangers, Red Sox, New York Yankees and Houston Astros are reportedly pursuing the 43-year-old Clemens, who is a free agent.
